Entostat delivers microbial control agents

Entostat delivers a range of organisms from each of the key microbial groups: fungi, bacteria, viruses and phytogenics.

Using microbials to control insect and plant pathogens is becoming increasingly important in the Agriculture, Public Health and Animal Health sectors to combat insect resistance, reduce environmental impact and meet tightening regulations.

The effectiveness of microbial control agents is well documented, few products have been successfully commercialised due to a number of key technological challenges, including fermentation, formulation and delivery systems.

Fungi and bacteria

Exosect has developed the use of Entostat to deliver a range of fungi and bacteria. The dry formulations enable the delivery of the microbials to a range of target surfaces such seeds, grains, pellets and building fabrics.

Among candidate organisms already validated are Beauveria, Trichoderma, Metarhizium and Bacillus.  Entostat can provide various benefits such as higher loading, increased longevity and uniformity in delivery.

Viruses

Exosect is developing an innovative approach to improve the shelf-life, field-persistence, efficacy and cost-effectiveness of viral biopesticides. It will build on tried-and-tested Entostat technology to better protect the virus whilst in storage or on the crop, whilst improving its capacity to kill pest insects.

Proof of concept work has already shown that Entostat encapsulation does not interfere with virus infectivity. This innovation substantially increases product attractiveness to users revolutionising the crop protection landscape.

Entostat delivers phytogenics

Exosect has successfully developed the use of Entostat to deliver plant derived materials. This opens up opportunities for next generation biopesticide formulation.
