Exosect has developed an innovative approach to improve the field-persistence, efficacy and cost effectiveness of viral biopesticides. It has built on its tried-and-tested Entostat technology to better protect the virus from ultraviolet (UV) radiation whilst on the crop.
A candidate formulation of the NPV virus which controls Spodoptera littoralis (Egyptian Cotton Leaf Worm), has enabled a fifty percent reduction in the amount of virus required to match a treated control.
It has also significantly increased the longevity of the virus when exposed to UV radiation. This innovation substantially increases product attractiveness to users revolutionising the crop protection landscape.
